| It’s Time to Sleep
is a visual guide for controlled comforting techniques, the
most tried and proven way to get infants with poor sleeping
habits to sleep through the night.
It’s Time to Sleep not only covers babies
and toddlers with problems but it also teaches good sleeping
habits right from newborn.
Since the launch of the original video in October 2000,
It’s Time to Sleep has helped thousands of
parents all around the world to teach their babies and toddlers
to sleep independently. It’s Time to Sleep is now produced
as a DVD.
The vast amount of feedback and the myriad requests for
more information has led us to produce an accompanying book,
answering all the most frequently asked questions, it also
offers valuable back up support to parents.
The It’s Time to Sleep book does not contain
the actual settling techniques used by Rhonda Abrahams as
we still firmly believe that visual demonstration is the best
way.
Rhonda
Abrahams grew up in Melbourne, Australia.
Rhonda is a mothercraft nurse, registered nurse, mother
of three children - Brendan, Renée and Daniel and grandmother
of two. She still lives in Melbourne with her husband and
childhood sweet heart Denis.
Twenty-five years ago she was a young mum battling with
her daughter Renée, who wouldn’t sleep and Rhonda
was studying nursing at the same time. Seriously sleep deprived
and desperate for some much needed respite, her sister took
Renée for one week and brought her back a new child,
her sister saying ‘It’s all in the technique’.
Rhonda began what has been a life-long passion: to teach
babies and toddlers to sleep independently.
Rhonda won a small business award for creating the Baby Sleep
and Settling Centre at the Sunshine Hospital in Melbourne
where she settles hundreds of babies each year. She also educates
the educators, talking to groups of antenatal educators and
midwives in major hospitals and for mothers groups through
Child Health Centres.
Rhonda has her own private practise, Sandman Baby Sleep Centre
where she does private in house settling.
In May 2000 Rhonda settled a baby by the name of Nathan
Viotto, this day changed the lives of many people.
Maree
Viotto is the mother of two beautiful boys Travis and Nathan.
When Maree set out to visit her local baby health centre
on 12 May 2000 she didn’t realise she was about to embark
on the journey of a lifetime.
Maree was at the end of her sleep deprived tether, she was
getting up to 12 month old Nathan up to 6 times a night and
rocking him back to sleep. Marees’ health nurse suggested
she do controlled comforting techniques to teach Nathan to
sleep independently.
When she visited Rhonda Abrahams at a baby sleep centre
she was shown techniques to settle Nathan at home. In just
one hour of using Rhondas’ techniques Nathan was sleeping
through the night.
Maree was so inspired by the success of the sleep program
that she wanted to share it with other parents all over the
world and in October 2000 produced It’s Time to Sleep.
A step- by- step visual guide featuring Rhonda and her program.
Maree now offers support to other parents via her website
and is a major contributor to ‘Sleep and Settling’
on Huggies website. Four years on Maree Viotto has written
a book to answer all the most frequently asked questions.
